Our Planet. Theirs Too. – the nonprofit behind the global National Animal Rights Day (NARD) events – is looking for a Social Media, Marketing & Communications Lead.
The role will involve supervising and leading a small team of associates, in all our digital marketing, communications and social media efforts across our brands, including content creation and review, text/graphic/video editing, team direction, and strategy calibration.
We are looking for a person with a proven track record of having successfully managed and expanded the social media, communications and/or marketing efforts of an established animal rights group, for several years at least.
Additional requirements:
• Native English speaker
You will be writing copy, editing and proofreading the work of other native-English speakers from the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
• Social media literacy
Knowledge of how the current algorithms work on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc., identifying strong video hooks, keyword placement, and optimal post formatting.
• Communications
Comfort with handling all channels of communications, including newsletters, websites, social media, press releases, fliers, etc.
• Marketing
Familiarity with current marketing practices and trends, and how they are applied to maximizing audience growth, engagement and fundraising efforts.
• Familiarity with animal rights content
Comfort with reviewing footage of animal suffering, and knowing the current trends, tone and aesthetics of the animal rights movement, both online and offline.
• Video editing capability
Basic to intermediate skills in trimming and editing footage in editing apps, layering audio over B-roll, basic effects, and making confident editorial decisions.
• Graphic design capability
Basic to intermediate skills in using graphic design apps (Photoshop, Canva) to create banners, posters, fliers, graphics for social media posts and carousels, and other graphic design elements.
• Team direction
Ability to give constructive feedback on the team’s work, plan the work and set goals, step in when necessary, and patiently but efficiently guide the team on a daily/weekly basis.
• Availability
Strong preference for people based in the North American time zones, who are available during working hours in the US. 20 hours per week minimum, starting ASAP.
• Engagement
This is an Independent Contractor type of engagement, and we’re looking to fill this position for the long run (so, not a temporary ‘gig’). Payment is based on the number of hours, skills and experience.
