VegFund seeks a motivated and curious Program Specialist with a passion for vegan / plant-based living to serve as a vital member of a growing non-profit organization. VegFund supports vegan activists to spread a compassionate, responsible, and impactful vegan message to the greater public. Job Summary The Program Specialist is charged with four core responsibilities: Grant Review, Approval and Management. VegFund accepts grant applications on a rolling basis and approves some reviewing 800 grants annually, some 90 percent falling within the Community Outreach category. The grants of this category include food sampling, documentary and film screenings, festivals and fairs (predominantly veg fests) and paid-per-view videos mostly of farmed animal production within industrialized settings. The Program Specialist is the first line of communication with VegFund’s grantee base of some 1,600 individuals and organizations around the world and she/he will have approval authority for grants in this category up to $3,000. The Program Specialist will follow grants through the initial application responding to grantee queries through to final disbursement to each grantee of the Community Outreach category. This task represents about 50 percent of the Program Specialist’s time. Grant Reporting. Apart from the Community Outreach grant category, VegFund offers grants within 4 other grant categories. The regular review of data generated within VegFund’s grant programs is essential for understanding the programming relevance and success. The Program Specialist will pull and organize the data for some 60 grant reports monthly for review by the Executive Director, Program Officer and the VegFund Board. Grant reporting will require about 25 percent of the Program Specialist’s time. Representing VegFund. The Program Specialist may be asked to represent VegFund at up to four annual networking events or conferences as a part of a Vegfund Team. Conferences may include the annual National Animal Rights Conference or other conferences or events where VegFund’s presence will help recruit new grantees, maintain relationships with existing grantees and inform prospective donors and partners about VegFund’s work. Representing VegFund will require approximately 10 percent of the time of this position. Grantee Support. The Program Specialist will assist the communications team with grantee skills building outreach, such as sending out new grantee kits, adding grantee events to our events calendar, and responding to questions on our activist forum. The Program Specialist will dedicate about 15 percent of his/her time to this task. Requirements: Familiarity with or a willingness to learn to use the following programs: FluidReview, WordPress, GMAIL and Google Docs, HubSpot, Slack, Asana, Dropbox, and Excel Strong communication skills Attention to detail An attitude to respond promptly to grantees. Administrative experience strongly preferred Basic data analysis abilities Monthly report creation using PowerPoint and EXCEL Independent work ethic and ability to stay on task without constant oversight Ability to work 40 hours per week Passion for plant-based or vegan living.
