Philanthropy Officer Remote (East Coast region) As philanthropy officer , you will advance the work of Mercy For Animals by identifying prospective major donors, cultivating and sustaining relationships with them, and soliciting major gifts ($10,000 and above). You will formalize and manage major donor programs, create annual strategies for all portfolio donors (including monthly benchmarks and reviews), and coordinate visits between the development director and major donors during the development director’s travel time and trips to the Los Angeles office. You will do crucial work: Manage a portfolio of about 120 major gift donors Meet or exceed monthly metrics for visits, solicitations, and proposals Consistently review portfolio, cultivate new prospects, and disqualify others as necessary Involve directors in the cultivation and solicitation process whenever appropriate Serve as event-planning liaison for major donor fundraising events Maintain donor data in fundraising database and prepare funding proposals and stewardship reports Assist with fundraising appeal planning and execution, donor relations, database conversion, and other joint projects within the Development Department Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures Perform any other duties assigned by the team leader Your qualifications will take our major gifts program to new heights: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, nonprofit management, or communications Five or more years’ experience in a major gifts officer or philanthropy officer capacity Excellent written and spoken communication skills Outgoing and friendly personality Experience writing fundraising proposals Outstanding rapport-building skills Team-playing, collaborative attitude Ability to work effectively under the pressure of constant deadlines Excellent organizational and time management skills Careful attention to detail Frequent travel and some evening and weekend work Professional appearance and adherence to a vegan lifestyle Commitment to the mission and values of the organization Is this the right fit?
