Position at SC CARES as an Animal Caregiver, located in Georgetown, SC: As animal caregiver at SC-CARES you are responsible for the overall wellbeing and care of the animals, meaning the animals care must come first. This includes day to day tasks such as feeding, grooming, cleaning and administrating medications. You will need to manage important tasks such as education for the public through tours and events as well as projects at the sanctuary. This job also requires good communication skills as you will have to gently manage many different volunteers who all have different skills of their own. As animal caregiver you need to be comfortable working with all different types of animals (training provided) including birds, horses, snakes, rabbits, goats and many more. This job requires the ability to work outside regardless of weather and must able to lift heavy objects such as feed bags.
5 days a week (currently 1 position is off on Tues & Thurs; the 2nd position is off on Wed & Sat) this schedule could be rearranged based on the two staff members. The average hours are from 70-78 per 2 weeks. Pay period is every other week. Pay is hourly wage to be determined based on qualifications but no less than $9.00 per hour with 1099 misc income at the end of tax year. Work day from 8-9 am to 4-5 pm; lunch if taken in 30 minutes or less(no time write-off);if more than 30 minutes(but no more than 1 hr) needs to written off time sheet.
