Job Description

This full-time position reports to the Plant Manager, and assists with managing and overseeing the Sanitation crew to ensure compliance with all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.

As our Sanitation Manager , you will have a dual role.

You will provide management of the Sanitation functions for the office and plant facility. Additionally, you will ensure the sanitation of the facility is, without question, 100%. You will make certain your sanitation team is second to none.Your team will be the best trained/supported and will practice best sanitation practices.

Essential Duties:

  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager/supervisor: requiring planning, evaluating, organizing,integrating and delegating
  • Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management
  • Conduct employee reviews and maintain team member coaching log
  • Report daily to sanitation team results of previous day’s Pre-op inspections and areas of concern for current day
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring and training of new employees
  • Training and instructs employees in regard to sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs and objectives.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists team members in solving work problems
  • Update, maintain department attendanc e tracking log and report department issues to HR
  • Review and approve as needed employee vacation/PTO requests & payroll system
  • Regularly review payroll system and employee time punches for accuracy and make
  • Leads by example by following Company policies, standards and specifications Works in conjunction with the Management team to assure readiness for upcoming projects* and demonstrates good time management in planning work schedules to ensure deadlines are met
  • Collaborates with QA staff to troubleshoot and analyze sanitation-related issues
  • Understands the manufacturing process and equipment/parts design in order to ensure proper equipment sanitation and efficient startups
  • Regularly audits sanitatio n processes to ensure compliance with SSOPs
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting sanitation
  • Ensure daily chemical titration tests are completed within required standards and recorded appropriately
  • Recommends measures to continuously improve sanitation methods
  • Review & update Sanitation and Housekeeping documents and programs as needed
  • Conduct department supply inventory and ordering to include sanitation chemicals and supplies*
  • Assist in developing and maintain department work instructions and Sanitation Manual
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting sanitation*
  • Assists in managing relationships with outside vendors such as the plant chemical supplier
  • Assist in completion of hygienic design review for new or modified equipment

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Associates Degree; 5 years food plant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience which includes sanitation experience

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
