Job Description


ProVeg International is seeking an experienced Major Gifts & Trusts/Foundations Manager to improve and expand our international fundraising efforts. As Major Gifts & Trusts/Foundations Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, coordination and implementation of international grant, trust, and foundation proposals, corporate sponsorships, major donor relations, pitches and other fundraising activities. You will also support ProVeg country offices with their high-net-worth fundraising plans. You will develop guidelines, policies, best practices, and collateral that support our international offices becoming more self-sufficient with their major gifts fundraising. This position combines strategic thinking with a practical hands-on mentality, collaboration with colleagues, as well as independent initiative, with the goal of increasing our global income by several million dollars in the next three to five years, eventually managing a development team.



Reporting to: President and Vice President ProVeg International

Location: US, UK, NL, DE or remote (home-based)

Hours: 24-32 hours per week

Salary: Commensurate with experience and location (if UK-based, between £40,000 and £48,000 “pro rata” adjusted for hours worked, and for local standards if based in other countries)

  • In conjunction with the Executive Team, lead the design, development, and implementation of a 3-year international resource mobilization and cultivation strategy, and annual and quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Research and prepare proposals for potential major donors, trusts and foundations, and where relevant, corporate opportunities and coordinate international and joint fundraising campaigns.
  • Provide clear communication of ProVeg's mission, strategy, brand, and goals to high-net-worth individuals.
  • Acquire and build relationships with potential major donors in the US, UK, and beyond; maintain relationships with existing mid-major donors.
  • Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of major donor income, including gifts in wills, gifts in memoriam, and similar instruments.
  • Identify suitable projects within the organization’s plan in order to build cases for support and satisfy donor wish lists.
  • Supervise the production of fundraising events, including private events for major donors as well as public events for donors of all levels. 
  • Assist with material development to help us develop numerous pitch packages and stories for our work to different audiences, in particular donors motivated by reasons other than animal protection.
  • Help build the global fundraising infrastructure (guidelines, support with setting up giving platforms, compliance, etc.)
  • Any other administrative or comparable support that may be required



  • Several years’ experience of high level/senior fundraising at an NGO, preferably international.
  • A track record of identifying and securing significant, and/or multi-year, five-figure+ funds from donors, foundations and/or corporates.
  • Experience with a variety of HNW individuals’ backgrounds and interests
  • Ability to turn numbers, outcomes and goals into a compelling story 
  • Evidence of successful proposal writing, from start to finish, as well as experience with writing concise reports.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including documentation of all work, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively.
  • Expertise in the development of social investment strategies and proposals.
  • Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to oversee the production of inspiring, creative, and persuasive events for major donors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective listening, objection handling, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanour and experience in engaging with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals. 
  • Willingness to travel internationally (on rare occasions).
  • Strong motivation to support the plant-based movement and alignment of your values with those of ProVeg International.



  • Knowledge of innovations in food, as well as an understanding of the global plant-based food sector.
  • A bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in communication, economics, marketing, or other relevant fields.
  • Formal membership of a professional fundraising body.
  • Adherence to a plant-based diet and lifestyle. 
  • Salary: dependent on experience and qualification.
