About our company WearActive

Our philosophy at WearActive is that being active in the outdoors helps people truly relax during their holiday and truly appreciate the location. We love nature, so we make sure that our business does not disturb the environment whenever possible. We use solar energy, we recycle our waste, we source our supplies locally, and we try to eat organically. We prefer to serve vegan food to our guests.

About MoaAlm Mountain Retreat

MoaAlm is a recently renovated guesthouse at 1800m on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria. Our location is truly something special: the views from the house are stunning, many hiking routes start from the house and in winter you can ski down from the house to the ski lifts, the 'garden' is filled with Marmots, Gams (Chamois) and Deer. Please note that MoaAlm is a remote place! The village of Kals is 5km down the road and Lienz, the nearest city, is 30km from MoaAlm. In the winter, accessibility is limited, so usually once you have arrived back to MoaAlm after a day of adventure, you really do not want to leave again.

MoaAlm offers all-inclusive holidays to guests from around the world.  We can accommodate a maximum of 14 guests who typically stay with us for 1 week.  During their stay, guests have the opportunity to practice yoga, enjoy guided outdoor activities or perhaps relax in our beautiful wood-fired hot tub.  Our guests appreciate a personalised service and homely atmosphere which we cultivate through communal dining and sharing our time and interests of the great outdoors.

About the job:

We are looking for a full time/year-round yoga teacher and plant based cook. We would also consider a seasonal position but prefer for people to consider MoaAlm their home.

We are looking for a passionate Yoga teacher. The ability to speak German is an advantage. You’ll need to be up for an adventure and enjoy teaching yoga for a small group 5 mornings a week, with the possibility of offering an afternoon class on certain weeks. Your role would be Yoga teacher plus helping the managers with day to day tasks. This will include assisting with the cleaning, baking some cakes, and helping in the kitchen. Ideally you would also be comfortable contributing to our social media channels and writing blog posts.

Vegan Cook

We are very proud of the importance that the food has within the MoaAlm experience. You’ll be responsible for cooking and preparing vegan meals suitable for varying dietary requests. Evening meals are three courses. Catering management (administration, purchasing, stock management, etc.) with cleaning and supervision of the kitchen area is another essential part of the role. Proficiency in German is a big advantage to maintain close relationships with local suppliers.

The MoaAlm Team

You would both join a team of 3 other permanent employees at MoaAlm.  As a small business with only a small team, you would be expected to assist with other aspects of the business such as driving, cleaning and assisting in the kitchen. The other important role at MoaAlm is hosting; spending time with the guests and making guests feel part of the MoaAlm family.  Everyone at MoaAlm takes on more than one role with many tasks being shared between several people to keep life interesting!

There should be plenty of time each day for you to explore and enjoy the wonderful surroundings both at MoaAlm and in the stunning mountains around us! Would really suit mountain lovers and hikers:.

The Work:

Annually: MoaAlm runs 18 week seasons in summer & winter with 8 weeks between each season of which 4 weeks are used to wrap up one season (admin & general maintenance) and prepare for the upcoming season. 4 weeks are taken as annual holidays between seasons (8 weeks holiday annually).

We offer a monthly salary, accommodation, food and ski pass (can take €300 cash instead of ski pass, only applicable in winter season)

Travel allowance, to & from your home address to MoaAlm (up to €150) per season

€200 allowance for staff training (can be used for course fees, course travel and accommodation costs) per season

€150 clothing allowance per season

We all work hard but you should see it as a lifestyle – we are not “staff” in the  narrow sense of the word; it’s very much a “team” effort! We get to live in a  stunning location, ski down the ‘road’ to pick up the bread, meet really interesting people and eat great food.
