Job Description

Position Objective:

To apply principles of accounting to analyze expense information, prepare and reconcile expense statements, and use appropriate accounting-control procedures


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations:

o Assist with posting routine and non-routine journal entries to the general ledger

o Assist with setting up and creating the new annual budgets

o Assist with accounts payable, including maintaining vendor files, processing checks and void checks, and processing rush requests

o State charity registrations, tax returns, 1099 tax forms, and other special projects as assigned by the supervisor

o Cross-train and back up for payroll and other finance positions

o Provide monthly and quarterly reports to other department managers and directors as necessary

o Enter, track and monitor expenses for special campaigns such as Petra and others as assigned by the supervisor

o Review and analyze the general ledgers for incorrect postings and make corrections when necessary

o Provide assistance with annual financial audits for all organizations

o Generate and maintain standard operating procedures

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor



• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Minimum of two years of accounting office experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and use discretion

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Positive credit report required

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
