Job Description


The Humane League is an international nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food through institutional and individual change. The Humane League fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. The Humane League seeks a Fellow with a background in grassroots outreach, campaigning, and digital engagement. The Fellow will help launch and maintain THL’s veg advocacy initiatives, to increase the number of people signing up to try vegan for the month of January, to increase local vegan options available in restaurants across the U.S., and to work on incorporating plant-based initiatives into local Earth Day events. 


As a fellow, you will:

  • Tackle real-world challenges that positively impact the lives of animals

  • Develop your professional skills, and enhance your resume

  • Collaborate with animal protection professionals, and build lasting relationships with like-minded activists who share your values

  • Experience the work culture of The Humane League, and learn what it’s really like to work within the animal protection movement

  • Increase awareness around the benefits of a plant-based diet

  • Gain experience on how to run effective campaigns and engage volunteers


  • Assist in organizing and management of veg advocacy campaigns

  • Assist in analyzing the effectiveness of The Humane League/Veganuary collaboration

  • Incorporating plant-based options and awareness into Earth Day events 

  • Assist in the cultivation of Veganuary pledges 

  • Host webinars about how to organize and lead veg options campaigns in local communities across the United States


  • Exemplify a strong commitment to The Humane League’s philosophy and activism methodology. 

  • Must be over 18 years old, have a high school diploma, GED, or college diploma

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizing/outreach experience

  • Experience working on campaigns and the ability to effectively communicate an idea to a large, broad audience

  • Experience in event planning is preferred but not required

  • Digital engagement experience preferred but not required
