Job Description

The Humane League is an international nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food through institutional and individual change. The Humane League fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. We are seeking a Fellow who is self-driven and is interested in learning the in’s and out’s of running a campaign! The Fellow will have full support and guidance from experienced campaigns staff to help them take part in conducting research, creating a campaign plan, and working with other departments at The Humane League to execute that plan.

As a fellow, you will:

  • Tackle real-world challenges that positively impact the lives of animals.

  • Develop your professional skills, and enhance your resume.

  • Collaborate with animal protection professionals, and build lasting relationships with like-minded activists who share your values.

  • Experience the work culture of The Humane League, and learn what it’s really like to work within the animal protection movement.

  • Learn how to perform in-depth research on a target, and how to use the information you find to successfully build pressure on that target.

  • Draft compelling writing about campaigns directed at consumers, activists, and executives.

  • Research a company, its executives, and its consumers and help create a plan for how The Humane League can best target that company with a campaign.

  • Work with Campaigns staff as well as staff in other departments to execute the plan you helped create.

  •  Write text and work with Comms to plan visual elements for the campaign.

  • Exemplify a strong commitment to The Humane League’s philosophy and activism methodology.

  • This fellowship requires a time commitment of 20 hours per week.

  • The Humane League offers school credit or a paid stipend as compensation for your time. The stipend for this fellowship is $2400.

  • Must be over 18 years old, have a high school diploma, GED, or college diploma.

  • Excellent communication skills — verbal and written.

  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.

  • Interest in performing extensive research.

  • Creative critical thinker with an ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Comfort using major social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.

*Please note, this application closes on November 27, 2019.
