Job Description

The Humane Party’s Board of Directors announces the search for at least 4 new Chief Executive Officers and encourages expressions of interest, nominations, and applications for these positions.  Our next CEO’s will find our eager volunteers are ready and willing to work together with them to help make this world a better place.

The Humane Party is a political party in the United States of America. We are the only United States political party committed to representing both humans and animals as literal constituents, and therefore require all policy to represent said constituents. The HP was founded in the spring of 2009 and publicly launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. We are currently an all-volunteer organization. While we continually develop a stronger infrastructure, we have many long-time volunteers with a variety of skills who are eager to continue working toward the HP Mission: “To establish a disciplined, transparent and accountable government that empowers citizens and industry to build and sustain a humane, secure and prosperous nation.”

All candidates running under the HP banner must sign a statement indicating that, to the best of their ability, they personally choose only those foods, clothing, and other products and services that are free of exploitation. In addition, all HP officers and members of the Board of Directors are required to make the same commitment that HP candidates must make. Our goal is to fill the positions of United States President, United States Senate, and United States House of Representatives. At a later date, we will also run candidates for state governor and state legislature offices.

With a goal of winning the 2021 U.S. Presidential election, we need enthusiastic people with the drive to liberate all sentient beings and take the HP to the next level.  As indicated earlier, the HP CEO must be vegan and living his or her life according to the ethical principles thereof. This is key. We need leadership that will remain true to the core beliefs of the HP and not back down under the inevitable “mainstream” pressure.  Our CEO’s cannot be satisfied with the status quo and must have already dedicated themselves to the fight.

This is a get-things-done job.  The HP CEO needs to be willing to personally attend events, travel out of town to meet in person, carry things, ship things, drive places, set up booths, make signs, mail postcards, write thank-you notes, etc. We would like to make perfectly clear up front that this is NOT a glamorous position. You must have a high tolerance for what can be very mundane day-to-day tasks and also be able to maintain focus for months at a time. You must be willing to commit to a minimum of two to four hours PER DAY of LIVE COMMUNICATION with HP team members.  That means live phone calls or in-person meetings between the CEO and an HP team member.  This is over and above all the time that will need to be put into all other matters, such as paperwork, research, etc.

We require all potential CEO candidates partake in at least two (2) HP Board meeting prior to serving. This way you will be able to learn where the party has been, where we are today and ideas for what the party may need moving forward. This will help prepare you to step into the role of CEO. You can expect to receive extra support from the Board when you initially step into the CEO position. In addition, we are prepared to provide you with hands-on coaching from veteran Humane Party volunteers. There must be an open line of communication between the CEO and the Board of Directors. We expect that the Board will be given updates on a regular basis.

We are implementing a “seasonal” or “rotating” Executive structure. This means that there will be four CEOs, each serving for three months out of the year. You will be responsible for any events that occur during your term. For example, planning for a presence at the Animal Rights National Conference would be the responsibility of the CEO for the summer term. As you can imagine, you will most likely be making connections year-round, however you are only required to assume official CEO responsibilities for three months out of each year.
